Summer 2025 Updates:
Bonanza Flat Area Trailheads (Empire Pass, Bonanza Flat, Bloods Lake) now require payment for parking. The parking rate is $5 per hour on weekdays and $8 per hour on weekends and holidays. Free parking is available outside of peak hours, from 4 PM to 8 AM.
Park City resident can get a free seasonal parking pass by registering at this link.
Starting July 11, the new purple line extension will start running on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The service extends the traditional free purple line transit route from the old town transit center to Bonanza Flat and Bloods Lake trailheads. This new service replaces summer Transit to Trails. Dogs are now allowed on Park City Transit. More information HERE.

Make a "Plan B"! Even the best laid plans get thwarted sometimes.
- If Bloods Lake Trailhead is full, park at the nearby Bonanza Flat parking lot. Trails from this lot connect you to Bloods Lake. Check the Bloods Lake via Bonanza Flat trail map HERE.
- Try another trail.
- Nearby Silver Lake Loop Trail in the Uintah-Wasatch-Cache National Forest is family friendly and has a large parking area that may be available when other areas are full. Dogs are not allowed in Big Cottonwood Canyon!
- Nearby WoW Trail in Wasatch Mountain State Park is just down the road from the Bonanza Flat Conservation Area, is dog friendly, and offers wonderful views of the area's foliage.
- Arrive early (or later) or avoid weekends! Trailheads can fill up by 8am on peak days during our busy season. Congestion tends to die down later in the afternoon.
- Check the weather! Storms can develop quickly in the mountains. If mud is sticking to your feet, trails are not in hiking condition. Wait until things dry out for a more pleasant experience that will help keep the trail around for years to come. Live weather information HERE.
- NEVER PARK ALONG THE ROADWAY, IN THE SHOULDER, OR ANYWHERE EXCEPT A DESIGNATED TRAILHEAD PARKING SPACE!
