Current Season Info | Winter

Winter conditions may exist on trails! Be aware of avalanche danger and prepare for rapidly changing weather.

The 2025-26 winter season has started slowly. Please consider the following before hitting the trail:

  • Avoid muddy trails. If it sticks to your heel, turn around.
  • On groomed trails, if you are leaving a rut and breaking through the comb surface, please consider using a different area, or waiting for optimal trail conditions.

Bonanza Flat winter access and parking

The Bonanza Winter Shuttle is the easiest way to reach Bonanza Flat on peak winter days.

Service details:

  • Days: Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays
  • Time: 8:45 a.m.–4:45 p.m.
  • Location: Empire Canyon Lodge
  • Frequency: Every 30 minutes
  • Season: December 19 through April 19, 2026 (weather permitting)
  • Connection: Aligns with Park City Transit’s 9 Purple route from the Old Town Transit Center
  • More details here.

Parking at Trailheads

Parking at public trailheads is limited, and parking time is restricted to a 4-hour maximum at Mid Mountain and Ontario trailheads.

To help keep traffic moving and prevent safety hazards:

  • Do not queue in the roadway while waiting for a parking spot.
  • If you park at Mid Mountain Trailhead, you are responsible for your own transportation from the trailhead to the Bonanza Flat Conservation Area.
  • The Bonanza Winter Shuttle does not stop at Mid Mountain Trailhead.

Courtesy reminders

We appreciate everyone doing their part to keep trail access safe, functional, and respectful for all users and staff.

  • Never step in front of a moving vehicle in the roadway. This is a Park City safety policy and applies to everyone.
  • Please respect shuttle drivers and follow posted safety guidelines at stops and along the route.
  • Keep waiting areas clear of traffic lanes and allow shuttles to load and unload efficiently.

Access

  • Trailhead snow removal is completed when resources allow. Please be patient during big storms.
  • SR 224 is closed for the season above Mid Mountain trailhead.
  • To access Bonanza Flat Conservation Area, we recommend the Bonanza Winter Shuttle Friday-Sunday. Details here.
